With the aid of a technological breakthrough that has revolutionized eyewear, the ability to see clearly changes lives – especially the advancement with-in providing solutions for third world countries such as adjustable focus eyewear.

Malcolm Nicholls Limited (MNL) was approached by a leading lens and frame design and manufacture company for several variations of frames and dials.

The customer supplied finalized 3D CAD files for MNL to produce a first off series of prototypes with gloss finished surfaces, these were used as a pattern for MNL’s soft tooling, this then enabled the customer to trial and retro fit new lens without the high cost implication of hard tools. Castings can be produced in a multitude of materials that emulate the production intent material aiding test and evaluation of the product.

MNL were occasionally supplied frames that have already been manufactured and were asked to assist with several variants of finishes/patterns.
