Our Transparent 3D Printing Service

Are you looking for transparent 3D printing? We are the UK’s leading 3D printing service, home to a suite of 3D printing machines and prototyping technology we can utilise our SLA 3D printing process, which combined with our transparent resin on our SLA 3D printing machines, gives you glass-like 3D printed clear plastic parts with 99% transparency?

Malcolm Nicholls Ltd are experts in transparent 3D printing; with the ability to produce virtually optically clear 3D printing from our SLA machines. We can help you see inside your assembly, and this process is utilised by many of our clients for flow testing and analysis, as well as replicating glass for many designs. Glass-like SLAs can be achieved with MNL not just for lenses and lighting-based components.

Imagine building a transparent full-size 3d printed automotive engine with the ability to see what’s going on internally for things such as clashing, interference fit and flow analysis reducing your development process … impressive!

Transparent 3D Printing

Here we illustrate some of the other reasons and uses for transparent 3D printing as well as the obvious lenses and lightpipes.

Clear SLA materials give perfect transparent 3D printing results straight from the machine right?

Clear 3D printed parts that are produced from the Stereolithography or SLA 3D Printing process often look fantastic emerging from the tank of resin BUT …the reality however is often disappointing especially if you are looking for high-end visual appearance on your transparent resin 3D printed part.

At Malcolm Nicholls we have some tricks up our sleeve to improve the appearance and produce a look to suit your prototype or 3D printing requirements. Look at the examples below to see how we improve the standard result, and it’s not always expensive or time consuming.

Large Format Clear 3D Printed Parts

We can produce large transparent 3D printing without the need for sectioning and fabricating back together, by utilising our large format SLA 3D printers. These have impressive build platforms of 800 x 800 x 600mm – perfect for any large format clear 3D printing.

What finishing options do we offer? How do we achieve these results? And at what cost?

Clear 3D printed parts that need to be optically clear have to be sanded through the grades polished and lacquered to achieve a perfect look.

However, in many cases, optical performance is not required everywhere to achieve the desired visual appearance.

At MNL we employ time-served finishers to ensure the appearance and look, suit your requirements.
